When apps and doctors pull in the same direction, care becomes more effective

Why it is time for digital tools and traditional medicine to start working together – and how to achieve that.

Building blocks of a practical solution

Healthcare apps are experiencing a worldwide boom – today you will find tens of thousands of them on smartphones. The Czech market, however, still lags in how these tools are connected with real care in clinics and hospitals. They often function more as isolated add-ons than as part of treatment plans.

According to psychologist Miroslav Světlák from Masarykova univerzita, the time has come to break this barrier. “Digital approaches are not meant to replace doctors, but to become another effective tool for them. If eHealth becomes part of treatment plans, we can improve patient care, increase efficiency and at the same time reduce the burden on healthcare professionals,” he says.

Potential that remains unused so far

Modern eHealth apps can help across the whole spectrum of care – from prevention through diagnosis to treatment and long-term patient support. They are also useful in relapse prevention, in the remission phase or as a complement to classic therapy.

Yet recommendations from professional societies, unified lists of verified apps and methodologies that would make orientation easier for healthcare professionals and patients are still missing. Among some patients, distrust and a preference for personal contact persist, while healthcare professionals may fear that digitalisation will threaten the quality of their care.

A shared language between technology and medicine

According to Světlák, the key is to understand digital solutions not as a replacement, but as a natural complement to the work of doctors, psychologists or social workers. Integration into treatment plans can increase efficiency, improve access to care and reduce the burden on healthcare staff.

Orbiso is a bridge between both worlds

And that is exactly where Orbiso is heading – a safe, intuitive platform where professionals can easily assemble their own educational, preventive and intervention programmes for patients or clients. Without lengthy searches for IT vendors, without high costs, and above all with the ability to tailor the content.

Thanks to the modular system, videos, questionnaires, value measurements or reminders can easily be included in programmes. And what is essential – Orbiso integrates these digital tools directly into healthcare, not into a separate “digital world”. The future of medicine will not be about choosing between the traditional and the digital path. It will be about connecting them – and Orbiso is the bridge that makes this connection possible.
